Thyroid diseases: Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism

by May 22, 2023

The thyroid is often in the spotlight when digestive problems occur, or sudden and unexplained weight gain or weight loss happens, or in case of unexplained infertility.

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the neck, which creates and releases thyroid hormone. It plays a big part in controlling metabolism, heart rate and regulating body temperature. When it stops working correctly it can produce too much or too little thyroid hormone, impacting the entire body.

Hyperthyroidism is when the thyroid is overactive and produces and releases too much thyroid hormone.

Symptoms include:

  • Fatigue
  • Irregular menstruation
  • Metabolism speeds up causing: Diarrhea, nause and vominting
  • Weight loss
  • Heart palpitations
  • Sleep problems
  • Intolerance to heat

Hypothyroidism means that the thyroid is underactive and doesn’t make and release enough thyroid hormone.

Symptoms include:

  • Fatigue
  • Frequent and heavy menstrual periods
  • Metabolism slows down causing: constipation
  • Weight gain
  • Muscle weakness and soreness in the body
  • Dry skin
  • Difficulty tolerating cold

Both conditions can be treated naturally, not just with medication.Changes in diet, exercise and incorporating natural herbs and supplements can help.

How does the Aviva Method help with thyroid problems?

The Aviva exercises directly and indirectly affect the thyroid function and helps balance its hormone production and secretion. The rhythmic movements exercise the muscles of the neck, throat, upper back and chest, activating the thyroid. When it works at an optimal level, the production and secretion of the thyroid hormone balances.

The endocrine system is very sensitive, where the hormone producing glands are interconnected and impact each other. If one gland is under or over procuding it impacts the others. The Aviva exercises promote a balanced functioning across the whole endocrine system.

The exercises increase the lymphatic circulation, regulating the thyroid’s hormone production. Additionally, the acupuncture points on the hand and feet are stimulate correlating with the hormone producing glands, hence activating and balancing them.

What are the results?

As a result of regular exercises many practitioners experienced multiple benefits:

  • Regular, healthy periods
  • Regained vitality
  • Lost weight
  • Restored fertility
  • Improved digestion
  • Better tolerance to cold or heat
  • Hair loss stopped
  • Better lymphatic circulation (no more swollen feet)
  • Balanced blood cholesterol levels
  • Reduced muscle soreness
  • Improved sexual appetite
  • Better mood

The Aviva Method is often called “Hormone Exercises” because the movements impact the endocrine system and help restore hormonal balance. Whether you are suffering from hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, healing could come as a result of simply exercising the Aviva Method 2-3 times a week.
