Success Story – Adenomyosis

by Apr 9, 2023

The best part of teaching the Aviva Method is hearing the positive results that women achieve. There are thousands of case studies available online from around the world about menstruation, fertility and hormonal health improvements. Here is one from right here in the United Arab Emirates. Read Amal’s success story who used the Aviva Method to help with Adenomyosis.

Amal’s story

“I have suffered with painful and heavy periods since I was a teenager. Several years back I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis.  I have taken numerous vitamins, painkillers and tried various diets and lifestyle changes over the years to try and help manage my symptoms, with not a great deal of success. One visit to my doctor ended up with him suggesting a hysterectomy in my thirties, which I declined! Some months when I take a period and they are particularly painful, I can end up in bed for 2 days as I cannot function with the pain.

When I heard about the Aviva Method from Zita, I must admit I was rather sceptical about whether it would actually help me personally as I have practiced yoga regularly for years. And if yoga could not help with my Adenomyosis symptoms, why would the Aviva Method? However, I am very pleased to say that it has helped greatly with my symptoms.

I took Zita’s Aviva Method Workshop in September 2022 and have been attending her weekly Aviva Method classes since then.  Alongside the weekly classes, when my period is due and throughout it I do the exercises twice per day that particularly help with menstrual cramps. I can honestly say that doing these exercises has helped me enormously to cope with Adenomyosis.

Astonishingly, I noticed a change the first period I took after completing the Aviva Method Workshop. That first month, I had a very heavy few days of bleeding (more than I have had in years as if my body was clearing itself out) with literally no menstrual cramps at all. Following this, the severity of my monthly menstrual cramps has lessened. I am finding that if I do have a particularly bad month, the cramps last 1 day rather than 2 now. I also find that during menstruation my stomach does not feel just quite as bloated and painful around my fallopian tubes. Mentally I also feel much lighter as I think I have at last found something that can help me manage this condition in a healthy manner!”

What is Adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis is a condition when tissue from the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows into the muscle wall of the uterus. It can cause the uterus to grow and thicken up to double or even triple of its normal size. Symptoms include painful, heavy and prolonged periods, with clotting and cramping. It can cause painful intercourse and infertility. There is an increased risk of miscarriage as the embryo can’t implant into the uterine lining, and premature labor.

What causes adenomyosis is not known. However, hormones, genetics, inflammation or trauma may contribute to adenomyosis. It most commonly occurs in women age between 40 and 50, although it can be diagnosed earlier too. Women with endometriosis or who have had prior uterine surgeries such as fibroid removal can get adenomyosis too.

While symptoms tend to go away after menopause there remains an enlarged uterus that can cause discomfort.

How does the Aviva Method help?

The exercises and lifestyle taught by the Aviva Method primarily aim to ease symptoms of adenomyosis. Most importantly the severity of the pain during menstruation can reduce. In addition the length of the period can shorten and heaviness of the bleeding can normalise. As a result everyday life becomes more enjoyable and without the worry or fear of the next menstruation. This will positively impact women psychologically.

The hormonal balancing effect of the exercises and dietary changes can lessen the severity of the disease and can make lower abdomen and therefore intercourse more comfortable. Hysterectomy can be avoided.

In addition to the exercise you should try to practice regular meditation, relaxation and breathing.

The Aviva Method recommends regular vaginal irrigation (douche). It means rinsing of the vagina by large quantities of hot water with salt. The vaginal irrigation should be done once or twice a day, over a period of 10-20 days, followed by 9-10 days break. The irrigation stimulates progesterone production and helps against bacterial, fungal, and viral infections. It is recommended to do the irrigation over a period of 1-3 months, supported by vegetarian or light, healthy diet. This practice follows the teachings of the Mazdaznan everyday holistic wellness practices. (Read more about this on the Mazdaznan website.)

Finally, you can avoid or at least reduce the use of hormonal medication and pain killers that are the common solution for adenomyosis, but have a negative side effect. Aviva Method is a completely natural solution that allows the body to heal itself. (Please consult with your doctor any changes in your hormonal medication.)
